OUR PEOPLE
Sarah Shortland
MSc, CPsychol, AFBPsS
Sarah is a chartered psychologist who has worked in consultancy and in-house for over 15 years, supporting large and complex organisations to address a range of leadership challenges.
Sarah provides senior-level leadership assessment, individual coaching and career development support, group development, and strategic support to Talent and HR teams. Across these activities her focus is on delivering solutions which support HR and L&D activities in identifying and developing talent, making robust appointments to key roles and developing organisational capability.
During her time in-house as Head of Talent, she worked to redefine and standardise the outlook on potential across the group and bring greater rigour and consistency to conversations about talent. Sarah supported the board and ExCo to review executive succession and how this was approached in the business. She also worked with individual senior leaders and leadership teams to improve team and individual performance. Sarah was also actively involved in efforts to address the lack of diversity in the organisation, coaching senior women and leading a research project which led to a report on the factors that needed to be addressed to improve working experiences for women and members of minority groups. Since then, she has continued to work with clients on aspects of their strategy and activities to develop more inclusive workplaces.
Sarah has a BSc in Psychology from the University of Hull and an MSc in Occupational Psychology from the University of Cardiff. She is a Chartered Psychologist, an Associate Fellow of the British Psychological Society and a Member of the Division of Coaching Psychology.
