Laina Spencer

MSc, CPsychol, AFBPsS

A Chartered Occupational Psychologist with over 20 years of experience in consulting and in-house roles in both the private and public sectors, Laina has worked with many organisations to help them define and develop the culture and leadership they need for the future. She started her career in financial services, working for American Express Private Bank in New York before working for several other investment banks in London.  After leaving financial services to pursue her interest in organisational psychology, she worked for a mix of boutique and larger consultancies specialising in leadership strategy, assessment and development.  Before joining Tariscent, Laina was Head of Culture, Leadership and Organisation Development at the Ministry of Defence in the UK, where she led a large team of HR, strategy and corporate communications specialists.

Having worked with clients at ExCo and Board level for over 15 years, Laina particularly enjoys helping senior leaders to understand their role in leading change and developing leadership capability at an organisational, team and individual level.  She is passionate about one-to-one leadership development, having assessed and coached hundreds of senior leaders. She has consulted internationally in a range of sectors including financial services, healthcare and life sciences, professional services, retail, engineering, utilities, and the public sector.

Laina has a BSc in Psychology, an MSc in Occupational Psychology and is a Registered Occupational Psychologist with the Health and Care Professions Council.  She also holds an NTL Global OD Certificate and is trained in the use of a wide range of psychometric tools.
